PayPlay.FM appears to be a way for independent music companies to get their artists music for sale world wide. From an artists standpoint it might be as close to self publish with a large market as you are going to get. You don’t need to be knee deep in unpublished music to get a handfull of songs on the market sold either as an album for $8.88 or as singles for .88 cents each. It might be worth checking out at http://payplay.fm/contact/artists . From a listeners standpoint this is a fine collection of new/unknown artists where you can sample one or two of their songs at only .88 cents each. No, I’m not an affiliate, not a stock holder, not associated with these folks in any way except I’ve found some really fine blues artists over there and spent more money than I should have. If you listen to more than the pablum pushed down your throats by the big record companies you owe it to yourself to check it out just once. http://PayPlay.FM

All of you ceramic craftspeople this is your place to show your work, tell us about it, and leave us the links so we can maybe spend a little of that filthy lucre and help you buy more “stuff”.

Here it is Christmas eve and I let another holiday slip by without painting anything of a holiday theme. It’s kind of funny how I can get excited about one picture and another (read that as one that is marketable) is just like getting a root canal done. I love to paint, cut just can’t bring myself to spend lots of time on things that can make money. I must admit though that I’m doing much better about my series of beach scenes. I’d like to get another 10 to 15 done in time for the Pawleys Island Reunion in May. There are plans to be there to sell some artwork. I think I need to hire a task master with a gun, whip, and a chair. Ok, I’m going to do better about putting my work up here and once again I’m offering space here to ANY artist in ANY discipline. Photography, music, pottery or anything else that you might want to publicize. I really would like to have some music put up here. It’s free, just keep it clean and no blatant ads that hijacker readers to other non-art pages. And, yes, I will be the sole arbiter of the good, bad, and socially accepted.

I have, of late, been doing a LOT of traveling around South Carolina shooting pictures to fuel my “painting habit” The more places I visit the more “I never knew that was there”s keep coming out of my mouth. And, most often I find these places by happenstance conversations while pumping gas, going to the post office or stopping to buy boiled peanuts. So, that is where this blog comes in. I’m going to be putting the more interesting things I find in here so you can have that “I never knew that was there” moment yourself. In return, I know that you have a special place that I ought to visit and get a picture and maybe paint a canvas or two. This, then, would be my way of welcoming you to this blog and asking you to join us as I rediscover my home state.
As far back as I can remember this town clock has been the focal point of Winnsboro, SC. And through all of that time I don’t ever remember when the clock didn’t work. I have read that it is the oldest continuously running town clock in the US. I don’t know, it seems that I’ve also seen that about other towns. One that comes to mind is Sevierville, Tenn. although while I was going to college in Tennessee I seem to remember that their clock didn’t work. I do remember that standing just in from of Winnsboros clock in the middle of US-321 there was a statue of a soldier facing north keeping ever vigilant for the marauding hoard.
Yes, I always knew that it was special but now I see how important things like this were in my life. It only took me 60 years to paint this picture. Slow but I’m steady.
It’s your turn.
